to join our production team. This role is suited to a skilled operator who is confident working from technical drawings, maintaining high quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement within a busy sheet metal environment.
The role
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of press brake machinery, producing precision-bent components to specification and supporting production by identifying and resolving bending or design challenges, reporting / escalating any issues to Supervisor.
Key responsibilities
Set up and operate press brake machinery to bend, shape, and form sheet metal components in line with technical drawings
Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including bend sequences and tolerances
Load and unload parts manually, using sheet loaders or forklifts where appropriate
Carry out quality, dimensional, and quantity inspections to ensure components meet required standards
Identify and investigate bending or fabrication issues, working collaboratively with the Production Manager and draughting team to propose practical solutions
Complete production and quality documentation as required
Carry out routine press brake and tooling maintenance to minimise downtime
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work area in line with Health & Safety requirements
Support and share knowledge with colleagues to promote teamwork and best practice
Undertake other reasonable duties as required by Supervisor
Essential experience & skills
Press brake machinery operation
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Confident use of measurement equipment, including callipers and micrometres
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use initiative
Good computer literacy for production and quality records
Ability to prioritise workload and work efficiently in a production environment
Physical capability to stand for long periods and undertake manual handling using lifting aids where required
Desirable (but not essential) attibutes
Full UK driving licence
Previous Health & Safety training
Experience in a fast-paced sheet metal or fabrication environment
Reliable timekeeping and attendance record
Willingness to continue learning and develop skills on the job
The role is based in Braintree (Essex). Ideally, applicants should live within a 30-40 minute drive, as our site is not accessible by public transport. We appreciate this when considering your commute and are happy to discuss any questions you may have.

Working Pattern
Monday off
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 6am-5pm (inclusive of 30min unpaid break).
Friday 6am-3pm (inclusive of 30 min unpaid break).
