Description of the Company & Overall Purpose of the Role
Alcina Engineering, part of MWA Technology Group and based in Wharton Street Industrial Estate, Birmingham, is a specialist engineering firm with annual turnover of 600,000. It operates a wide range of engineering activities, providing products to other companies within MWA Group as well as to external customers.
The company is looking for a Press Brake Setter/Operator with experience in the production of metal parts through the operation of a press brake machine, which bends metal according to predetermined specifications. They are tasked with the accurate and efficient processing of various sheet metals, while ensuring safety and adhering to the required quality standards.
Working within the manufacturing team you will support the company in meeting deadlines set by our wide range of customers whilst working within the constraints of ethical trading and good engineering practice.
Key Responsibilities
Setting up and operating press brake machinery
Interpreting blueprints and engineering plans
Selecting, positioning, and aligning dies
Conducting pre-operation inspections
Running the machine to bend metal sheets and laser blanks as per the job requirement.
Monitoring the machine to ensure it functions correctly and that there are no errors during the operation.
Inspecting the finished pieces to ensure they meet the required dimensions and tolerances.
Reporting any quality issues to the relevant Management.
Conducting regular inspections to ensure machinery operates smoothly.
Identifying and resolving any machine problems to reduce downtime.
Calculating bend allowances.
Adjusting machine settings for material thickness and bend angles.
Operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brakes and software, where applicable.
Candidate Requirements
The right candidate must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
At least 3 years' experience in Press Break Operating plus general engineering work
Detail-orientated
Proficient in mathematics
Familiar with CAD/CAM software
Ability to handle physical workload
Some knowledge of programming reading and an understanding of drawings & models
The ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously
Conscientious, hardworking and self-motivated
Organised, focused and with an attention to detail
Strong communication skills and a good team player, with a positive "can do" attitude
An understanding and appreciation of health and safety
The ability to use your own initiative to achieve deadlines
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 14.00-15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
