Press Manager

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

A bit about the job.

We\'re looking for a PR Manager to take Wise\'s B2C and B2B communications to the next level. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop and execute creative campaigns, engage media across a wide range of sectors and to grow in seniority and responsibility.

Wise\'s UK and Ireland press office is a busy place. This year alone, we\'ve called out b***s for ripping off consumers and SMBs, took the Rest is History podcast to Europe, launched a Eurovision guide to Liverpool with a reigning drag queen champion, and highlighted the merits of holidaying in Albania. Now, we\'re seeking a UK PR Manager keen to work across both our Wise Account and Wise Business products.

You should enjoy engaging with the media, strategising how to most effectively tell a story, and you should have a passion for writing and creative campaign planning and execution. You will be London-based and UK-focused. The role also offers the opportunity to work with colleagues across the globe, and provides room to grow in seniority.

There are three key responsibilities for this role. * Accelerating the growth of Wise Account

There\'s a reason Wise is formerly TransferWise. Our business was founded on helping people send and receive money across borders - and we still do it better than anyone. But our mission is something bigger: we aim to revolutionise how money is managed, sent and spent across the world.

That means celebrating our wider Wise Account offer, from the joys of using our card when travelling to the financial gains of holding money with Wise Assets. Throughout, we champion consumers - and call out banks when they fall short. This means the opportunities for our PR are huge. Our target media ranges from the travel pages to personal finance to tech news and beyond. Our potential campaigns and pitches are vast - which is why we\'re the only brand to work with both Dominic Sandbrook and Danny Beard this year.

It will be your job to work out how we can push all our Account\'s strengths across media. That means running campaigns, managing a press office, launching new services, identifying target outlets and journalists, and much more\xe2\x80\xa6 * Championing the UK\'s international SMBs

Wise doesn\'t just give consumers a better deal - it offers one for SMBs too. Wise Business is the international account for SMBs. Our services, rates and flexibility mean businesses can enter new markets, source new staff, find new suppliers - and grow. We regularly speak to businesses whose international ambitions have been transformed by Wise.

We champion SMBs\' international ambitions, and we celebrate the successes of our business customers. This year, we have put up poetry in Canary Wharf calling out banks\' disregard for their SMB customers, and we\'ve highlighted the international frustrations of Scottish SMBs. However, there is an opportunity for our Business PR to really kick on - an opportunity you could realise. * Working creatively across teams

This year, we\'ve been refreshing and revving up our UK PR approach. We want to continually innovate and find new ways of effectively engaging our audiences. To do this, we are working with a wider array of talent, deploying more creative assets and looking to work more closely with a wider range of teams across marketing. As part of your role, you will be tasked with formulating regular, effective campaign ideas and turning them from a plan into reality - all while seeking opportunities to work with the wider Wise marketing team.

What will you need?

  • 3-5+ years of experience working in corporate communications
  • A strong understanding of how PR, marketing, and social media can work side by side to reach audiences, with proven experience doing this
  • Innate understanding of what makes a good story for media and how to secure great quality media coverage - our PR team remains media, not social, focused
  • An ability to work proactively in a fast-paced, high-growth company. You have a hands-on approach and can get results whether you\'re in a regional team or a functional PR team
  • A genuine, enthusiastic interest in our mission and developing and communicating great ideas to make financial services fairer
  • A keenness to work out how PR is best measured, and how learnings from data and measurement can be applied to a comms approach
  • Excellent written and spoken English
What you\'ll get

We offer you a position in one of the UK\'s foremost tech companies and a chance to truly be a part of something great.

It goes without saying that you\'ll be a part of a fun, friendly atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

You\'ll get a competitive salary, flexible work hours and at least one all-expenses-paid . Everyone gets shares in the company too, because we believe that what we\'re building belongs to each of us.

Who we are.

Wise was founded in 2011 with a clear mission: money without borders. We\'re helping people and businesses send and receive any currency effortlessly - whenever, wherever - and making the world a bit better by helping to make the financial system fair.

There\'s more than 5,000 of us, representing more than 110 different nationalities. We have 17 offices across the globe and our customers use Wise to transfer billions of pounds every month.

We\'re looking for a Press Officer to join our UK/Europe team. You\'ll be based in our London office, and report into our Senior Manager for UK PR.

What is it really like to work here?

At Wise, we do things a bit differently. There\'s no corporate nonsense and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in individually responsible teams. Each team picks the problems they want to solve and gets on with it - so there\'s no micro-management or people telling you what to do. You will get tons of guidance and support from talented, super-smart colleagues from all over Wise.

The way we work doesn\'t suit everyone. But, if the freedom to take on head-scratching professional challenges sounds interesting, we could be a match made in heaven.

What do we offer:
  • Salary range: 40.000 - 52.000 GBP
Key benefits:
  • Flexible working - whether it\'s working from home, school plays or life admin we get that flexibility is essential and you\'re trusted to do the right thing and be responsible
  • Paid annual holiday, sick days, parental leave and other leave opportunities
  • 6 weeks of paid sabbatical after 4 years at Wise on top of annual leave
If you\'re interested in the position, please apply by submitting your CV and Cover Letter in English.
