Responsibilities: As a Key Stage 1 & 2 teacher, your primary responsibility is to educate and guide students in accordance with the national curriculum standards. Here\'s an overview of the job role of a Key Stage 1/2 teacher: Planning and Delivering Lessons: You will plan and deliver lessons across various subjects, including English, mathematics, science, history, geography, art, music, physical education, and more. These lessons should align with the national curriculum requirements, and you\'ll need to create engaging and differentiated learning experiences for your students. Curriculum Implementation: Key Stage 1/2 teachers are responsible for implementing the national curriculum at this stage of education. You will ensure that the curriculum objectives and learning outcomes are covered effectively, providing a well-rounded education for your students. Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment is essential. You\'ll establish and communicate clear expectations for behaviour, manage student behaviour effectively, and create a safe and respectful atmosphere for learning. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Key Stage 1/2 teachers assess students\' progress regularly to track their academic achievements and identify areas for improvement. You will design and administer assessments, grade student work, provide feedback, and communicate progress to students, parents, and other stakeholders. Differentiation: Students in Key Stage 1/2 have varying abilities and learning styles. As a teacher, you\'ll need to differentiate your instruction to meet the diverse needs of your students. This includes adapting teaching methods, materials, and assessments to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed and reach their potential. Collaboration and Communication: Key Stage 1/2 teachers collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support students\' learning and development. This may involve participating in team meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and sharing information about students\' progress and well-being. Extra-Curricular Activities: Key Stage 1/2 teachers often organize and lead extra-curricular activities, such as school clubs, sports teams, or special projects. These activities enhance students\' learning experiences, promote their social and personal development, and provide opportunities for them to explore their interests and talents. Individualized Support: Some students may require additional support or have special educational needs. As a Key Stage 1/2 teacher, you\'ll work closely with support staff and other professionals to provide individualized support, accommodations, or interventions to help these students thrive academically and socially. Continuous Professional Development: To stay updated with educational best practices, pedagogy, and curriculum changes, Key Stage 1/2 teachers engage in continuous professional development. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification. A degree in a relevant humanities discipline or a related field.
