A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brighton is looking to appoint a
full-time Autism Teaching Assistant
from November to support pupils with autism across the school.
This role would suit a graduate who is passionate about SEN and looking to build experience before pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, or therapy.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a recent graduate (2:1 or above preferred)
Have personal experience supporting a sibling or family member with autism
Be patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships
Be energetic, creative and confident in encouraging children to engage with learning
Have a genuine interest in SEN and inclusive education
Be reliable, proactive, and able to follow direction from teaching staff
Key responsibilities:
Supporting children with autism in class and during activities
Providing one-to-one or small group support tailored to individual needs
Helping to implement EHCP strategies and behaviour support plans
Creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for pupils
Working closely with class teachers, SENCo and parents/carers
Degree holders or applicants holding an NVQ/Level 3 qualification in Childcare are welcome as are Teaching Assistants with experience in school settings.
