We are seeking an experienced Principal 3D Artist to join our team at Frontier to work closely with the Art Director and Art Teams to ensure the continued success of the Planet franchise.

In 2016, Frontier Developments launched a brand-new park management franchise in the form of Planet Coaster which drew inspiration from our extensive experience in the field to deliver a world-class continuation of a much-loved genre. Planet Zoo followed in 2019 and in 2020 Planet Coaster was brought to console. The Planet Franchise offers the player an extensive suite of tools and strategies to create and manage their very own theme parks and zoos in a charming, vibrant world for builders of all ages.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Art Director and Art Team to ensure assets are to the expected look and quality.
  • Collaborating with the Art Team both internally and externally, acting positively on Art Direction and feedback.
  • Using your experience to identify and proactively solve challenges as they arise.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of a feature or area of the game and seeing it through from prototype to completion.
  • Understanding technical constraints and working with your Lead and the Art Director to make impactful decisions balancing visuals and performance across the project.
  • Coordinating cross discipline communication where required.
  • Mentoring and Assisting members of the Environment Art.
About You:

Essential:
  • A good team player, willing to work collaboratively and receive feedback and guidance from the rest of the team.
  • Show initiative and be proactive to get the best from a Game Engine, preferably shipping at least three games through full production.
  • Strong mentoring skills.
  • Experience in prop ZBrush sculpting, preferably with stylised work
  • Substance Painter experience in production.
  • Experience with PBR pipeline and real-time engines.
  • Understanding best working practices in terms of pipeline flow and game optimisation.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
