Job Description
Working as the Specialist Lead Lawyer for Social Care, you will manage and lead a team of solicitors handling Children's and Adults' Social Care matters, ensuring a high-quality, compliant, and efficient service.
This will include, but is not limited to:
- Leading and managing a Social Care Legal Team (7-10 staff) within Legal Services
- Providing specialist legal advice across Children's, Adults', and Education matters
- Overseeing and delegating complex, sensitive, and high-profile cases
- Ensuring compliance with court deadlines, LEXCEL standards, and professional regulations
- Providing strategic and operational guidance to senior officers, Members, and partner agencies
- Managing budgets and performance to meet financial and service delivery targets
- Representing the Council in dealings with the judiciary and external stakeholders
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX Lawyer entitled to practise in England & Wales * Extensive experience in Social Care Law (Children's and Adults') and Litigation * Proven experience managing and developing a legal team * Ability to deliver high-quality legal advice under pressure and tight timescales * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including senior officer engagement
