Principal Azure Cloud Architect (Cloud/DevOps)

Our Cloud Technology Enablement team build the secure automation capabilities that enable our application teams and engineers to unveil their products to the world. Our goal is to create platforms that make products smart, secure, and fast, while minimising toil. We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Azure Cloud Architect to join our London team.


You'll be working hands-on in Azure to translate the business goals and drivers of our clients into appropriate technical solutions. You'll get to build those solutions in Azure as well as using a wide variety of tools across the Cloud and DevOps landscape to do so.

Life as a Principal Cloud Architect:

As a Principal Azure Cloud Architect at Slalom, you will be at the forefront of technological innovation, working with cutting-edge cloud solutions to drive business transformation. You will be the go-to person for Azure solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges and design cloud architectures that meet the needs of our clients. Your role is to accelerate platform and environment enablement for developers through leveraging a focus on automation and continuous improvement. Specifically, you will:

Responsibilities:

Lead in the design, hands -on implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. Be the solution ambassador for Microsoft Azure Cloud solutions, architecture, related technologies and their interdependencies. Work directly with clients and Slalom teams by leading the design and delivery of major components of a modern engineering solution. Gather requirements, assess client capabilities, analyse findings and select technical approaches to provide appropriate cloud recommendations and adoption strategy. Act as a hands-on technical lead for Azure focused deployment within a multi-functional team of engineers. Contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform/ARM/Bicep. Enhance CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes utilising tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions. Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues as needed. Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing. Participate in brainstorming sessions and architectural reviews, contributing to the strategic direction of our cloud initiatives. Promote our people first mentality, encourage well-being and being an advocate for diversity & Inclusion across our teams.

What You'll Bring:

Hands-on experience as an Azure Cloud Architect, experience migrating and deploying Azure cloud-based solutions. Deep understanding of cloud computing and Azure services, including Azure storage, Azure AD, and Azure VMs. Familiarity with the Cloud Adoption Framework and Azure Landing Zones. Experience working within the Microsoft Partner Network and the programmes available within. Proficient with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or similar tools. Good working knowledge with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates. It would be advantageous to have knowledge of another cloud provider, such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
