Job Description


Principal Chartered Building Surveyor who is MRICS qualified with significant experience of leading and managing complex property related issues and offering strategic advice on a diverse portfolio is required for a well-established organisation based in Norwich, Norfolk.

Registered Valuer status would be an advantage.

SALARY: \xc2\xa352,149 - \xc2\xa356,249 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid role \xe2\x80\x93 working part from the office in Norwich, Norfolk and part from home

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Principal Chartered Building Surveyor who is MRICS qualified with significant experience of leading and managing complex property related issues and offering strategic advice on a diverse portfolio.

As the Principal Chartered Building Surveyor you will be responsible for the strategic performance and enhancement of the organisation\xe2\x80\x99s highest performing assets.

Working as the Principal Chartered Building Surveyor you will focus on the investment stock to optimise use, efficiency and financial performance whilst seeking to ensure a quality service provision for clients.

DUTIES

Your main duties as Principal Chartered Building Surveyor will include:

  • Act as a strategic property advisor providing professional advice, guidance and services to stakeholders across all activities covered by the role
  • Have a key role in setting performance criteria for property assets focusing on investment stock to maximise return on investment
  • Assist in the implementation and review of the strategic asset management framework (SAMF)
  • Lead on specific projects, schemes, programmes of work and activities ensuring compliance with corporate policies, statute and regulations and RICS standards
  • Assist in the mentoring, training and development of colleagues within the team
  • Provide a customer focused service for internal and external customers which is focused on excellent delivery, service improvement and maximising efficiency
  • Contribute to the delivery of an effective and focused Property & Economic Development service
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a property related subject
  • Professional membership of RICS with significant post qualification experience
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Project management qualification e.g., Prince, equivalent learning from experience or willingness and ability to attain project management qualifications supported by the organisation (Desirable)
  • Registered Valuer status would be an advantage
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of:
  • Up to date property legislation and guidance which underpins the activities and professional areas covered by this role including health and safety
  • Planning legislation and its implications
  • Tendering and procurement processes and requirements
  • Funding and financial sources
  • Asset based performance management
  • Project management and delivery mechanisms including methodology and processes
  • Proficient in the use of IT and technical software
  • Performance and quality requirements for service delivery
  • Providing a professional function in corporate asset management planning in a private or public sector environment (over a number of years)
  • Investment property appraisal and property acquisition
  • Significant experience of:
  • Experience of negotiating rent reviews, lease renewals, new leases and managing relationships
  • Experience of property management including monitoring rental income and rent arrears
  • Development / development appraisal
  • Complex valuations and techniques
  • Financial awareness, planning and budgeting
  • Understanding company accounts and appraising covenant risk
  • Working independently in a similar role in either in the public or private sector
  • Tendering and procurement of work and carrying out negotiations
  • Contract management including monitoring and reporting
  • Team working
  • Dealing with complex or contentious issues relating to property
  • Working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Good political awareness and experience of giving professional advice to Members
