SLR has a busy, well-established Land Quality team in its European Operations and due to ongoing commercial success and a busy forward order book, it is looking to expand its Land Quality team in the UK with the appointment of a Soils Consultant/Scientist, with a broad range of EIA experience within one of its UK offices. The team in the UK undertake a wide variety of geo-environmental assessments in support of EIA but with a strong focus on sustainability in relation to land quality.

This position presents an outstanding opportunity to join a team of leading geoscience professionals (including geotechnical engineers, geologists and contaminated land specialists) within a truly multinational consultancy and offers significant potential for career development and enhancement based on performance.

The role
The Land Quality team undertakes a wide range of site assessments and you will lead projects in relation to the sustainable management of soils for a wide range of clients in the power, energy, minerals, infrastructure and built environment sectors, including Masterplanning projects. You will play a key role in the successful delivery of multidisciplinary development projects.

The role will involve undertaking desk-based assessments, soil quality, resource and Agricultural Land Classification surveys, providing specialist advice on agriculture, soils and peat across the country. You\xe2\x80\x99ll draft Environmental Statement chapters as part of EIA, develop soil management plans and supervise works on site. There will also be opportunities to work closely with colleagues delivering Biodiversity Net Gain schemes.

About you
A specialist soil scientist, you\xe2\x80\x99ll have experience of soil surveying including knowledge and working with the Agricultural Land Classification system, along with experience of EIA in a range of client sectors.

  • BSc degree level qualification in an appropriate discipline; postgraduate qualifications would be an advantage.
  • Experienced in business development, client relationship management and bid preparation.
  • Member of the British Society of Soil Science and Chartered/working towards chartership with an accredited Institution.
  • Good IT skills (MS Office or equivalent), and relevant professional software knowledge.
  • Good communication, report writing and data analysis skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and follow strict Health & Safety protocols.
  • Full driving licence
  • A desire to build a successful career in the geo-environmental sector.
