Job Description


Purpose of Job

To create controls and software solutions for engine, vehicle and electrification projects.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Realization of software development according to V-Model, Automotive SPICE and Functional Safety Development of basic/embedded software for microcontrollers and multi-core controllers, e.g. for application like the control of engines, electric motors, power amplifiers or converters, application and/or basic software (AUTOSAR, Operating Systems,..)
  • Documentation of software design and architecture
  • Support and coordination of internal and external partners for software development
  • Cooperation with other disciplines, e.g. Hardware Software interface, System Engineering
  • Tolerance design/Model based design
  • Control synthesis
  • Establish software-architecture and software-component design
  • Designing Software Architectures in UML
  • Integration SW Modules/Components into one SW application
  • Derive SW Requirements from System Requirements
  • Development of unit testing
  • Design of power electronic devices (AC-DC, DC-DC converters and chargers)
  • Testing of electric motors
  • Design of HV circuits
  • Sizing and selection of HV/LV components
  • Design of Battery packs
  • Prepare and approve engineering programme quotations
  • Generate, resource and cost project plans
  • Monitor the timing and budgetary performance of projects against project plans
  • Lead project teams
  • Organise and facilitate project reviews
  • Approval of technical reports
  • Liaise with programme suppliers and external customers
  • Support / lead business development opportunities, in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and business development function
  • Monitor and assess the performance of staff
  • Generate and implement department procedures
  • Identify training needs
  • Perform any other duties reasonably requested by management to fulfil the requirements of the role
  • Number of employees responsible for (direct line management) - up to 2
  • Production output /sales value responsible for \xc2\xa3250k to \xc2\xa33m
  • Capex: \xc2\xa32k to \xc2\xa330k (depending on business allocation)
Qualifications
  • A Degree in Engineering, with extensive relevant experience
  • A Postgraduate and/or Professional qualifications would be an advantage

  • German language skills, advantageous not essential
  • Able to supervise and motivate others
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • Presentation and negotiation skills
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Detail conscious with an appreciation of customer requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in the field of software engineering and development gained within an OEM or preferably consultancy environment

  • Confidence to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Must be self motivated and the possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations (including secondments)
