Role: Principal Designer

Location: Manchester (hybrid working 2 days from home)

Salary: Up to \xc2\xa370,000 + excellent benefits package

Carriera is proud to partner with a global design and architecture practice who operate across the UK and overseas. Our client is in the process of developing their Principal Designer service with the addition of a PD out of their award-winning Manchester office.

The successful candidate will oversee a multi-million pound portfolio of exciting and diverse construction projects on a regional and national basis, our client operates across the built environment working across the commercial, residential, heritage, sport, hotel, university, leisure, re-development, retail, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors.

The ideal candidate will have experience acting as a Principal Designer and be fully versed with the 2015 CDM regulations along with and excellent understanding of H&S legislation, risk, compliance and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a Principal Designer service to clients.
  • Attend design team and client meetings and offer advice on design risk.
  • Carryout design risk reviews.
  • Ensure that CDM and H&S compliance is met across project portfolio.
  • Plan, manage and monitor the pre-construction phase of construction projects.
  • Review construction phase plans/ RAMs on comment on suitability.
  • Ensure relevant CDM documentation is in place and updated on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with contractors, clients, designers and architects throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
  • Design related background experience (essential).
  • Design related qualification e.g BSc Architecture (essential).
  • Construction qualification (essential).
  • National NEBOSH General or Construction certificate.
  • Member to IOSH or APS.
  • Excellent knowledge and hands on experience of 2015 CDM Regulations including all associated documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
