BakerHicks is hiring a Principal Structural Engineer to lead high-impact projects across Scotland. This is a senior leadership role for a Chartered Engineer ready to take ownership of project delivery, team development, and strategic growth.





You'll manage a portfolio of multidisciplinary projects, mentor engineers and technicians, and play a key role in business development. From defence and custodial facilities to energy infrastructure, your work will shape the future of Scotland's built environment.




Key Responsibilities




Lead structural design and specification across steel, concrete, timber, and masonry. Manage project delivery including time, cost, quality, and resources. Conduct technical reviews and ensure compliance with British Standards, Eurocodes, and CDM regulations. Mentor junior engineers and oversee SER certification (if applicable). Contribute to bids, tenders, and client proposals. Engage in business development through client meetings and industry events.



What We're Looking For




Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE). Proven experience managing teams and delivering complex structural projects. Strong technical design and specification skills. Familiarity with structural software such as TEDDS, Tekla, and MasterSeries. SER Certification (or working towards it) - desirable. Eligibility for UK security clearance - desirable. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
