The Principal Geophysicist will plan, manage, and execute Geophysics and other Geoscience work packages, with a focus on shallow site surveys and foundation Geophysics studies for our clients in the offshore renewables sector.
What will you be doing?
Plan, manage and execute complex consulting projects, maintaining responsibility across the full project lifecycle.
Provide expert advisory services and strategic guidance, ensuring the delivery of optimal solutions to clients.
Build and nurture client relationships, identify new business opportunities and leverage networks, develop client strategies, and convert leads into contracts.
Lead complex proposals and / or contract negotiations, including those with third-party suppliers.
Maintain thought leadership through publications, conferences and professional community engagement.
Provide technical review and approval of Geophysics related work.
Ensure all deliverables adhere to approved policies, procedures and instructions and are consistently upheld to high technical standards.
Lead and develop new processes and capabilities.
Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
Provide training and mentoring to other staff in technical, engineering and project management aspects.
Act as an ambassador for ABL Group and OWC to help us maintain and grow our reputation externally.
Be responsible for the Quality & HSE aspects of your work and maintain compliance of all applicable company policies and procedures.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will have a proven background in foundation and shallow section Geophysics and extensive experience of site survey data acquisition, processing and interpretation. You will possess experience of working for either an engineering renewables consultancy, developer, or contractor. More specifically, we are looking for the following:
Educated to bachelor's degree or higher in Geophysics or a related STEM subject.
Experienced in a range of Geophysical and Geoscience consultancy studies, including interpretation reporting, ground modelling, seabed mobility studies, shallow hazard and gas assessments, foundation feasibility studies, technical due diligence, cable routing and burial studies.
Experienced in the scoping, management, supervision, and interpretation of offshore geophysical and geotechnical site investigations.
Knowledge of areas such as marine geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretation.
Knowledge of Geophysical interpretation for Ground Modelling for engineering foundation zone applications.
Survey sensor specific theoretical and applied knowledge, specifically for Multibeam Echosounder, Side Scan Sonar, Magnetometer, Sub-Bottom Profiling, Multichannel Seismic Reflection.
Advanced user of specialist geophysical interpretation and processing software, such as Kingdom, Sonarwiz, Petrel, RadexPro, DUG Insight.
Advanced user of GIS software.

This position can be based at any of our UK offices, with a preference for Norwich.
You must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
The job holder will be expected to undertake onshore and offshore client assignments.
