You will join our Energy Transition (UK) Department

As our new Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of an experienced, diverse and highly skilled multi-disciplinary technical team working alongside a number of project managers to deliver client solutions in the energy transition sector. Our team seeks to improve the efficiency and sustainability of power generation solutions around the world whether these are new build or aging assets. We provide our clients with advice derived from a broad-based team of technical specialists to focus on delivering value and solutions in a highly competitive marketplace. The department is characterized by a great team spirit and collaborative mindset, working together with the rest of Ramboll, both in the UK and internationally.

Our services range from client advisory through to EPCm delivery wherein we take on and deliver key aspects of projects including design to support the client\'s delivery model. Transition to green energy is our primary focus area.

Our services cover piping, layout and mechanical disciplines. We cover all aspects of a project including concept and feasibility studies, detailed engineering, EPC, and follow-up engineering as well as supporting our clients\' troubleshooting and improvement of their running fleet.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Working as a mechanical engineer expert on a range of projects
  • Understanding client requirements, observing scope commitments and preparing a variety of complex engineering documents and calculations following standard methods and principles
  • Preparation of feasibility studies, conceptual / detail designs and contributions to associated reports.
  • Preparation of technical specifications and schedules for inclusion in tender enquiry documents.
  • Reviewing contractors\' design submissions in accordance with contract specifications, applicable standards, regulations and codes of practice.
  • Preparing contributions to Ramboll responses for expressions of interest, registrations, pre-qualifications and proposals.
  • Working closely with the assigned Project Manager to ensure that deliverable quality, cost and deadlines are met
  • Interacting with clients and stakeholders on technical options and improvements to ensure the optimum solutions
  • Actively coordinating with other disciplines across geographies to ensure effective execution and quality whilst ensuring Client interests and drivers are accommodated
  • Collaborating within Ramboll across business units to share technical knowledge, lessons learnt and staff development opportunities.

  • A relevant engineering degree & Chartership
  • Demonstrable experience of working on and successfully delivering multidiscipline projects in large scale industrial / power generation sectors
  • Flexibility to adapt to different project technologies including gas, biomass and hydrogen
  • Excellent English language communication skills and high IT literacy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, strategic partners and sub-consultants to provide high quality consultancy advice
