Following a number of recent significant contract wins, SLR has opportunities for either Principal or Associate level Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Project Managers to join us.

The role
With 30 individual Environmental, Advisory and Engineering disciplines, SLR offers clients an unrivalled breadth of expertise from which to draw upon for project delivery. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced individuals to lead EIAs for major infrastructure projects. You will work across a range of different development types, but most will be linear projects, including green hydrogen transportation and transmission infrastructure associated with offshore wind farms.

You will play a significant role in the delivery of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP), working closely with our consenting team, technical specialists, and specialist partners to execute large EIAs and accompanying Development Consent Order (DCO) documents. Additionally, you will support the business with the development of new commercial opportunities maintaining and building established client relationships.

Your responsibilities will be varied, but will include the following:

  • Lead on client communications for individual projects
  • Lead on the preparation of a range of high-quality technical reports
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to complete the EIA and all its associated deliverables and support production of associated DCO documents
  • Manage and maintain the multi-million pound/euro project consenting budget, risk register and schedule and issue periodic progress reports
  • Escalate key risks, decisions and issues to the client and SLR senior management and ensure key decisions are integrated back into the project
  • Take responsibility for the quality of the EIA deliverables ensuring consistency between on and offshore elements and that overall project aspects are considered appropriately
  • Interface with the wider project stakeholders including engineering teams, planners, consultation leads, and lawyers.
The role will involve short term travel across the UK/Europe depending on client/project sites as required. You could potentially be based in any of our English or Welsh offices.

About you
You\'ll be an experienced Project Manager in EIA and consenting of NSIP projects, ideally within the Power or Infrastructure sectors. Credible and cooperative, you will have a broad skill set that allows you to lead multidisciplinary teams. Your strong interpersonal skills, coupled with your technical knowledge, will mean you can successfully engage and build trust with clients and stakeholder groups.

You will also have:
  • Demonstrable client management capabilities and the ability to manage client relationships.
  • Proven consultancy (or similar) experience building, managing, leading and contributing to complex multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detailed knowledge of the NSIP consenting processes in England and Wales and EIA regulations.
  • Experience of the power and infrastructure sectors.
