Wood is recruiting for Principal Piping Designer to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The Principal Engineer will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.


There is a requirement for hybrid working with Tuesday and Wednesday being based out of any of the following locations - Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. Occasional travel to the client site is also expected as required.


This position will be for a minimum 6 month duration on a contract basis.


Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Piping Designer who brings expertise & knowledge in the use and application of 3D Piping Design software, 2D CAD Software and performance of model reviews.

Key Objectives for this role:

Executing assigned scopes of work Participates in and reinforces a positive HSE culture Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, products, and equipment Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering design assignments and produce engineering deliverables and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction Provides technical reviews for complex project within the area of expertise Assists in establishing project aims and outcomes to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design Formulates and directs investigations or prototype, model and system studies, evaluating and interpreting the data obtained and recommending practical application of results Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination requirements Work consists of complex procedures and tasks where diagnostic ability is required to assess the situation and identify appropriate actions to follow Advises on the development of new engineering methods and participates in short and long-range planning

Expected:

Degree in relevant engineering discipline alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence Skilled and knowledgeable in the use and application of 3D Piping Design software, 2D CAD Software and performance of model reviews Familiar with current Piping codes and standards ASME, IGEM, BS, ANSI etc Chartership, PE Status or relevant professional license / registration accredited by a recognized body preferred Must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check
