About the Role




Join the Software Engineering team, where you will play a crucial role in developing, enhancing, and - in the long term - transforming our investment reporting platform, Serpentine - a web application written using Python and Django. Serpentine tackles the challenges of managing large, dynamic and multilingual client websites, as well as publishing complex investment reports.


We are at a pivotal stage in the development of our business, with plans to develop a new suite of products. This is an exciting opportunity to take the helm of new projects, from the research and planning stage through to final deployment.

Requirements



You will:





Lead the maintenance, extension and feature development across all facets of our software's backend, with the opportunity to work on all layers of the application, including AWS infrastructure. Architect and implement new software solutions, leading the overall structural design and fostering engineering best practice within a small team. Collaborate closely with our design, front-end, and client-facing teams. Provide technical guidance and leadership to Huguenots' growing backend team.

You should have:



Mastery of the full product development life cycle. 10+ years' experience in professional Python development, with at least 5 years of experience working with Django specifically. Proven experience tackling and, where necessary delegating, large, complex tasks, whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail. A confident and positive communication style with an ability to guide and inspire more junior team members.
