At TAE Power Solutions, we design power management systems that use less but do more. From, electric vehicle, drivetrains, ultrafast charging, stationary energy storage and grid efficiencies. We develop a clean energy ecosystem of proprietary technology designed to go faster, perform stronger, travel farther, and last longer.
A subsidiary of our parent company, TAE Technologies (pronounced T-A-E) which was founded in 1998 to develop commercial fusion power with the cleanest environmental profile. The company's pioneering work represents the fastest, most practical, and economically competitive solution to bring abundant clean energy to the grid.
Job Overview
As a Principal Engineer in the Systems Architecture team, you will lead the development of the Charging feature functionality to meet stakeholder level requirements.
In this role you will bring together a cross functional team of systems, hardware, software, simulation and test engineers to drive the delivery of the charging feature with our next generation battery-inverter technology that will revolutionize the e-mobility space. It involves technically challenging engineering and systems-thinking. You'll be willing to drive a team forward, adopting a positive and flexible mindset to work in a small technology development-focused environment.
Key Aspects of the role
Lead/support the development of a feature through requirements lead design bringing together a cross-functional team in Hardware, Software, Simulation, Battery and Test.
Provide technical expertise in AC and DC charging (inc. Veh.->Grid) at charging interface and battery level.
Lead Charging Feature Squad - interface with HW and SW Design teams.
Perform S-FMEA, D-FMEA level analysis.
Ensure that Environmental, Health & Safety, quality standards and procedures are adhered to and promotes awareness.
Required:
Experience leading a team of engineers
Bachelor's Degree in Technical Discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics etc)
Willingness to "get stuck in" and "be in the thick of it" - working with test equipment, tying the results of this to simulation results (correlation) and iterating HW and SW design (with associated engineers) based on this.
Technical experience in the design and/operation of HV and AC Charging both charging interface and hardware electronics with respect to OBC.
Experienced in System-Level FMEA
A strong foundation in requirements lead design
A successful candidate for this role, will be able to translate system level analysis, quantitative and qualitative and translate that into day-to-day activities that ultimately come together to deliver the charging feature. If you have an in-depth understanding of how OBCs operate to achieve AC charging, can view this in the context of a wider vehicle system and have an appreciation for cell chemistry this would be make you a strong candidate.
