Hull Culture & Leisure Library Service is seeking to recruit enthusiastic, interested people for the role of Prison Library Assistant based at HMP Hull.

You will be responsible for assisting in delivering library services in HMP Hull Prison Library which will involve encouraging reading and learning for enjoyment, finding resources to satisfy requests for information, maintaining an orderly and attractive library and general library administrative tasks.

You will need to demonstrate previous experience of working with the public and you must have 4 GCSEs or an appropriate equivalent qualification, including literacy and numeracy.

It is essential that you can work effectively in a team, but can also organize and prioritise your own workload and work on your own initiative. The prison is a challenging environment so you will need to demonstrate your ability to deal with challenging behaviour and situations.

Good general knowledge including knowledge of basic IT skills is required. You will also have good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with customers of all ages and abilities.

It is essential you have a flexible approach to work and are willing to change days and hours to cover the needs of the service. These posts will work Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
