The role will act as the senior privacy and data protection resource for Cox Automotive Europe (CAE). This will involve providing formal advice on matters relating to privacy compliance and data protection law, personal data breaches, reviewing data processing agreements, delivering training and undertaking other tasks to ensure regular and ongoing compliance. You will be assigned responsibility for overseeing the implementation of key areas of the data protection framework project and reporting on progress to the Group General Counsel for Europe.
This may also involve occasional international travel to our overseas offices. You will be able to work from home but travel to our sites will be required from time to time and you will be expected to attend team meetings at our offices across England each month.
Key Accountabilities:
Taking responsibility for delivery of the data protection framework project and privacy training
Line-managing the Privacy and Data Protection Advisor.
Responding to requests for advice from across the group.
Attending meetings, face to face and remotely, with stakeholders from across the group or externally as required.
Assisting with the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
Providing input as required into investigating and responding to personal data breaches.
Prepare and present reports, slide decks, and training materials to internal and external stakeholders.
Contributing to the development and oversight of the group's data privacy risk management approach.
Providing advice and assistance to the business with regards to individual rights requests and third party personal data requests.
Supporting operational and project teams by embedding data protection compliance considerations into change activities, ongoing processes, and projects.
Manage and maintain relevant policies, procedures, and guidance documents, ensuring they remain up to date and effective.
Supporting procurement and supply chain teams with privacy reviews.
Skills / Knowledge and Experience:
At least 5 years' experience of working with and applying data protection law in a practical business context at a senior level, including drafting/reviewing relevant policies and procedures.
Possession of qualifications such as the BCS Data Protection Practitioner Certificate or IAPP's CIPP/E Certificate are preferred.
Experience of implementing privacy controls in a large and complex technology business is desirable.
Evidence of a sound knowledge and understanding of European and UK data protection laws.
Experience managing international data transfers and applying transfer risk assessments and safeguards.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to convey the importance of privacy and data protection compliance across the group.
Experience of working across multiple businesses and an ability to develop a sound understanding of the operating practices of those businesses.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex issues and risks in an easily understood fashion to stakeholders at all levels.
Be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver under pressure.
Ability to travel to our various sites around the UK including Leeds, Manchester and Bruntingthorpe.
Experience responding to internal and external audits, with a solid grasp of compliance reporting and governance.
Ability and willingness to travel to our overseas offices as required.
