About the Role





We are seeking an experienced Private Client Portfolio Manager to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong and relationship-driven investment professional to manage and develop bespoke and model-aligned discretionary portfolios for private clients. Most clients are referred via our in-house financial planning team or external adviser partnerships.



You will be responsible for discretionary portfolio construction, client meeting support, research input, and contribution to MPS oversight, governance, and proposition development.



The successful candidate will be based at our London or Cheltenham office approximately 3 days per week, with some flexibility and occasional travel between sites.

You are a confident and experienced investment professional who thrives on building trusted relationships and delivering tailored investment solutions. You combine strong technical knowledge with a collaborative, client-focused approach and are comfortable working alongside Financial Planners to deliver joined-up, independent advice.



You enjoy managing bespoke discretionary portfolios and contributing to wider model portfolio oversight. You take pride in your attention to detail, your ability to communicate complex investment ideas clearly, and your commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for clients.



You're proactive, thoughtful, and commercially aware, someone who brings energy and expertise to every client interaction and investment decision. Whether presenting at a client meeting or analysing a new fund opportunity, you act with integrity and ownership.




Key responsibilities include:




Manage bespoke discretionary and advisory portfolios, ensuring alignment with each client's objectives, risk profile, and tax considerations Construct and maintain portfolios using a blend of equities, collectives, ETFs, bonds, and alternatives Serve as the key investment contact for Financial Planners and their clients, attending meetings to explain strategy and positioning Monitor portfolios and implement changes based on market movements or evolving client needs Prepare rationale and commentary to support investment decisions and rebalance activity Conduct ongoing fund and equity research and maintain internal research notes Support model portfolio reviews, asset allocation discussions, and performance commentary Provide input into Investment Committee reporting, client-facing investment updates, and internal thought leadership Contribute to the oversight and governance of the firm's MPS, bringing insight from client and adviser experience Participate in fund selection, rebalance rationale, and broader MPS proposition enhancements



Essential skills and experience:




Demonstrated experience managing discretionary or advisory portfolios for private clients In-depth understanding of asset classes including equities, collectives, ETFs, fixed income, and alternatives Skilled at writing clear, insightful investment rationale and commentary Confident communicator able to build rapport with clients and planners Strong organisational skills and attention to detail IMC-qualified and/or working toward CFA or equivalent



Desirable:




Experience working with or managing Model Portfolio Services (MPS) Familiarity with financial planning-led client relationships Understanding of adviser platforms and reporting tools Strong Excel and/or FE Analytics proficiency Awareness of Consumer Duty, risk profiling, and cashflow planning integration
