Job Description

Barker Gotelee LLP is a highly regarded Chambers/Legal 500 rated Firm, established in 1988. We have grown significantly in recent years and are currently seeking a highly motivated qualified lawyer to join our growing Private Client department.

Reporting to a Senior Associate within the team, the successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to individuals, families and trustees. This role will suit a solicitor or legal executive with 1+ years post qualification experience or a newly qualified lawyer with at least one year of experience working within a Private Client team.

As this is a client-facing role applicants will need to put excellent client service at the heart of their work, providing clear, compassionate, and practical advice while maintaining the highest professional standards. Applicants must be commercially minded, team-oriented and able to work confidently and efficiently. They must also have proven fee-earning, case management and client development skills, together with superior organisational and financial management discipline. A desire and ability to contribute effectively to marketing, networking and business-development activities, both for the department and the Firm as a whole, would also be valued.

Key tasks and responsibilities



Progressing files, from start to finish and attending upon clients to discuss their legal matters. Assisting senior members of the team as required. Drafting wills, powers of attorney and other relevant deeds, letters in accordance with the client's needs. Managing the probate process and estate administration. Assisting with the creation and managing of Trusts. Ensure compliance with professional and regulatory obligations as well as with Firm policy.

Skills/Experience



At least 1 years' experience working in a Private Client department. Experience with drafting Wills, Probate and Estate Administration and Lasting Powers of Attorney. High attention to detail to produce work/ documentation which is consistently of a high standard. Flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are always met and clients are communicated with on a consistent and regular basis. Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative and manage their workload independently to meet deadlines. Excellent written communication and grammar, with strong computer and digital literacy skills. A genuine team player who enjoys being part of a supportive and collaborative team. Able to demonstrate discretion and professionalism at all times. Commitment to ongoing professional development. Full driving license
