Purpose of the role

Leading a team of industry-leading Private Client Tax Specialist based in Scotland. You will perform an advisory-focused, client-facing role. In addition to undertaking personal tax planning projects, you will oversee a team of experienced advisers, manage client relationships and play a critical role in developing new business across the region. In addition, you will be part of the national Private Client Knowledge Hub and help to drive a One Azets approach to Private Client work. You will act as the lead regional partner on personal tax compliance processes across the UK and liaise with other regional representatives. You will take a leading role on the successful implementation of transfer of low-risk category personal tax work to our Cardiff hub.

Day to day duties

Leading the Private Client Tax team across Scotland, bringing together ideas and driving best practice.

Being the lead regional representative for Private Client Tax across the UK and ensuring strong communication at a national level.

Partner responsibility for a portfolio which involves both compliance and advisory work.

Overseeing a portfolio including professional partnerships, Estates and farms and high net worth individuals.

Significant involvement with professional partnerships, including running tax clinics for the partners in each business and assisting with their queries and the overall tax provisioning work.

Acting as a key point of contact for Trust experience throughout Scotland

Liaising with other service lines on work referrals.

Being the lead partner for IHT reviews, capital taxes work and individual specific matters such as restructuring and transactions.

Leading relevant business development activities for Private Client and the wider firm

What are we looking for?

Senior level experience in advisory work relating to IHT and CGT, family succession and transactions.

Professional partnership advisory experience.

A good tax knowledge of the use of Trusts.

A team player- willing to support the delivery of both compliance and advisory services to clients and a desire to grow and develop our client base.

Excellent communication and relationship skills- able to own a number of senior level relationships internally and externally.

Experience working with a diverse client base within the Scottish SME sector (and including some agricultural and rural client exposure would be an advantage).
