Job title: Analytical development scientist

Location: Huddersfield.

6-month FTC

SRG are looking for an analytical development scientist to join a global agrochemical company with a site in Huddersfield.

As an analytical development scientist, you would be responsible for providing analytical and process development support, planning non routine analysis and technology projects, as well as keeping up to date with the latest scientific developments and seek to apply these to project work.

This role would need someone with a proven track record of analytical chemistry method development, either in a specialist or supervisory role- with an academic background in chemistry, preferably educated to PhD level.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with internal & external partners to deliver the analytical aspects of process development and manufacturing support.
  • Keep abreast of scientific developments & proactively seek opportunities to apply these to project work.
  • Plan, manage & conduct non-routine chemical & physical analysis, analytical development and process analytical technology projects to support the development & manufacture of new and existing processes.
  • Advise and provide laboratory expertise in Analytical Chemistry to local & global teams under the guidance of the Specialist Team Leader.
  • Support the development of other scientists in analytical techniques & best practices.
  • Use knowledge and experience to improve safe ways of working with Departmental Safety Leadership teams.
  • Manage, record and communicate activities in compliance with site, company and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Requirements:
  • A degree (BSc, MSC or equivalent) in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with a proven track record of analytical method development.
  • Knowledge of HSE systems and QA procedures and responsibility for compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of chemical & physical analytical techniques (LC, GC, MS, NMR, FTIR, SEM, EDS, PSD), analytical chemistry, critical data analysis (statistics/experimental design), method development, calibration & modelling, validation, and technical transfer.
  • Substantial experience in manufacturing support activities including process monitoring, data analysis and information extraction with a track record of problem resolution and process improvement implementation.
