Role Profile




This role will primarily be based in the Laboratory and will be responsible for the support and analytical control of the manufacturing special processes.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities



Participate in a positive and proactive EHS culture across the site. Preparation and testing of samples (metallographic, hardness, etc) Performing routine and ad-hoc testing for process monitoring/control. Analysing and recording data, technical qualification and failure investigation supported by the production of written laboratory reports. Providing technical support and training in special processes. Preparation of laboratory procedures, data cards and work instructions. Supporting and maintaining business approvals (customer / NADCAP). NADCAP & customer audit preparation. Conducting internal quality audits, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and formulating non-conformance responses. Support the introduction of new processes and equipment. Supporting wider laboratory activities (Planning / FAIRs, control of special process consumables etc).

Person Specification





Academic background in a technical subject (Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, etc) (A-Level / HND / Degree). Metallurgy or material science a distinct advantage, particularly within the aviation sectors. Previous experience of heat treatment of metals & furnace control / pyrometry would be a distinct advantage. Previous experience of welding (TIG, Resistance, Laser), brazing (Vacuum / Touch), thermal/plasma coatings, non-conventional machining (Laser / EDM) would be an advantage. Good oral, written and personal communication skills, experience of delivering training would be an advantage. Meticulous attention to detail and analytical & problem solving skills (Six Sigma, 8D, A3, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)). Personal integrity and good team worker. Enthusiastic and committed to making improvements to the Lab (Lean Tools). * Computer literate - full range of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).
