We are looking for a Procurement and Stores Manager to lead our procurement strategy, ensuring compliance with our Sustainable Procurement Policy and delivering value for money. You will oversee the procurement cycle, including spend analysis, tender creation, contract awards, and supplier relationship management, while developing efficient systems and processes to support a sustainable supply chain.
In this role, you'll manage inventory at Hope Works, lead a small team of buyers and stores operatives, and collaborate with stakeholders. Excellent communication and influencing skills are essential.
The role is based within our Hope Works Cement plant in the Peak District. As the largest cement manufacturer in the UK, we produce around 1.5 million tonnes of cement annually. With a proud history dating back to 1929, our plant plays a crucial role in the local economy, employing over 200 skilled professionals and utilising local materials to drive sustainable growth.###
Key Responsibilities
Lead procurement activities for Hope Works Cement, developing a strategic roadmap aligned with business goals.
Manage the purchasing and stores team, ensuring compliance with audit and operational standards.
Oversee stores operations and support major site shutdowns by coordinating timely delivery of goods and services.
Manage minor capex projects and collaborate with category teams on major investments.
Drive procurement excellence through policy development, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
Own the end-to-end procurement lifecycle including spend analysis, tendering, contracting, and supplier management.
Promote sustainability, ethical sourcing, and innovation across the supply base.
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and overall business strategy.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Procurement experience in a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment; cement industry knowledge is a plus.
Strong track record of delivering value and setting clear targets in complex operational settings.
Solid understanding of inventory management and engineering stores operations; Maximo experience is advantageous.
Confident team leader with experience managing buyers and stores operatives.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement long-term procurement plans.
Skilled negotiator with strong commercial acumen and supplier management expertise.
Passionate about sustainability and ethical sourcing within the supply chain.
Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Business-savvy, analytical, and calm under pressure, with sound judgment and initiative.
UK Driving Licence and the ability to travel if required.
