Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don't do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
This role is in our Procurement department, our Procurement team source, purchase and manage our products and services to ensure the right quality and delivery.

What will you be doing?
You'll take the lead in shaping, implementing, and managing category strategies while overseeing key tasks with care and focus.
You'll drive value for the business by executing strategic sourcing activities and managing procurement operations with suppliers and subcontractors. As well as working closely with internal teams to truly understand their needs and make sure category strategies align seamlessly.
We'd ask you to dive deep into data and market trends to spot changes and risks that could impact the sourcing strategy within your category.
You'll carefully assess and select vendors based on their performance, quality, and ability to deliver cost-effective solutions.
Also, negotiate contracts with confidence, aiming to secure the best prices, terms, and conditions for the business.
You'll deliver on financial goals by continuously identifying and executing impactful initiatives that support overall business success.
You'll share valuable category insights and intelligence with business teams to unlock added benefits across M Group.
What you'll bring

  • 5-7 years' experience in procurement
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful category strategies & sourcing practices
  • Ability to build relationships, influence and act as an expert across the organisation up to executive level
  • Strong leadership skills and prior experience of leading cross-functional or virtual teams
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, able to obtain consensus around credible, executable solutions
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
