Job Description

The Procurement Category Manager will oversee procurement activities within the Transport & Distribution industry, ensuring compliance and achieving value for money. This role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and requires expertise in managing categories and procurement regulations.

  • Develop and implement category strategies to deliver cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Manage procurement processes in compliance with PCR2015 and PA23 regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in procurement activities across categories.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to align procurement goals with business objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to organisational policies and industry standards in all procurement activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members as needed.

A successful Procurement Category Manager should have:
  • Professional qualifications such as MCIPS or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of PCR2015 and PA23 regulations.
  • Proven experience in category management within the Transport & Distribution sector.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
