Are you a proactive and strategic thinker with a passion for driving value through effective procurement practices? We are seeking a talented Procurement Manager to lead our Procurement Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of procurement within our council.

About the role





In this exciting position, you will be responsible for overseeing all procurement activities, managing complex and high-value contracts, and ensuring compliance with the latest legislation.



You will confidently lead on service enhancement initiatives, identifying opportunities to refine procurement processes.



You will collaborate with internal stakeholders across various departments, building strong relationships with suppliers and fostering a culture of partnership and innovation. Your expertise will be essential in identifying opportunities for cost savings, enhancing service delivery, and contributing to our strategic objectives.

About you





A proactive and adaptable professional with extensive experience in public sector procurement and contract management, you will use your strong negotiation skills and ability to analyse complex issues to enable you to resolve challenges effectively while maintaining positive relationships.



With an in-depth understanding of procurement legislation, you are committed to promoting equality and transparency throughout the procurement process. With excellent communication skills, you can engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including the Corporate Leadership Team and elected members.



Your passion for continuous improvement and dedication to delivering exceptional outcomes will make you a valuable asset to our council.

For many of our roles (where it is possible) we are currently working remotely and anticipate in the future returning to a hybrid office model on a flexible basis. This will still include work from home and flexi-time opportunities in order to provide a good work-life balance, whilst still ensuring that teams benefit from in person interaction. Candidates should therefore be within commutable distance of our offices in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire or able to attend meetings as required if further afield.
