We have a great opportunity for a Procurement Manager to support our Connected Cities business that specialises in electrical infrastructure projects within the highways sector. Connected Cities provides a 'one stop shop' for the design, supply, installation, energising, and maintenance of urban electrical infrastructure, future-proofing these services for smart city applications.

Role overview



The expectation of a Procurement Manager's role is for them to be illustrate responsibility for maximising delivered financial value and enhancing visibility and perception of Procurement within Equans UK. This would be measured by successfully and smoothly implementing new supplier contracts and delivering ongoing value and savings in line with the Procurement Policy. The role of a Procurement Manager (PM) aligns with the strategic objectives set by the Head of Procurement for the division and will contribute to the overall success of the Connected Cities workstream.

Key activities



Delivering consistent and professional procurement services to internal customers. Being a driver in raising the visibility and perception of Procurement. Defining a procurement strategy in collaboration with the Senior Procurement Manager and relevant internal stakeholders such as the Central Category team with an understanding of business needs, internal processes and relevant routes to market to drive best value for the business. Promoting insourcing over outsourcing where in-house capabilities exist. Implementing sourcing strategies and leading procurement tenders for selecting supply chain for operational contracts and framework agreements and participating in negotiation to ensure optimal agreements are in place; ensuring supply chain have the right technical and operational capabilities, level of health and safety and sustainability credentials, offer best value for money and quality services to the end customer. Implementing and managing framework agreements as relevant to the division specific local requirements. Driving compliance to existing local and category framework agreements by ensuring they are publicised and used across the business and colleagues are aware of who to buy from and how much to pay. Leveraging parent company group agreements. Managing suppliers who deliver services that are specific to the business unit through regular supply chain meetings, visits and business reviews. Engaging with operational teams to manage the performance of subcontractors. Ensuring the right supply chain is in place by conducting market analysis, sourcing new supply chain who are best able to meet the needs of the business where gaps are identified

Skills, qualifications & experience

Experience of similar multi stakeholder organisations/roles.*
Relevant experience in procurement, commercial and/or financial.*
Educated to degree/ diploma level (or working towards) in either Procurement, Business, Law, Surveying, Accounting, Science, or a CIPS accreditation or with competencies that can be demonstrated to be transposable in a Procurement environment.*
Knowledge of procurement processes, rules, and regulations.*
Negotiation and contract management skills with proven experience in a procurement / commercial / contractual environment.*
Exposure to sustainable procurement practices and carbon reduction initiatives.*
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to tailor approach based on the audience.*
