We're now looking for a
Procurement Manager
to take ownership of our medicines, packaging and consumables procurement - ensuring we have the right products, in the right place, at the right time, at the right cost.
The role
Reporting into the Director of Pharmacy / Superintendent Pharmacist, you will be responsible for end-to-end procurement across key categories (medicines, packaging, and consumables), with a strong focus on availability, cost control, and supplier performance.
You'll be hands-on with forecasting and purchasing while also helping to shape how our procurement function scales as Medpal grows. Experience in pharmacy, healthcare, or a regulated environment will be a strong advantage.
Key responsibilities
Own procurement for medicines, packaging and consumables
- managing day-to-day purchasing, stock levels and replenishment to ensure consistently high availability.
Develop and execute category plans
that balance cost, service, and risk across all key spend areas.
Lead supplier relationships
- onboarding new suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, managing contracts, and running performance reviews against agreed SLAs.
Forecast demand and optimise inventory
- using data to set ordering strategies that minimise stock-outs, overstock and waste.
Work closely with Finance, Product and Operations
to align procurement activity with commercial and service-level targets.
Monitor market changes
(e.g. supply constraints, pricing shifts, new products) and proactively adjust procurement strategy.
Drive process and systems improvement
- helping to refine SOPs, implement digital tooling and strengthen governance across the procurement lifecycle.
Support future team growth
- as Medpal scales, play a key role in shaping a high-performing procurement team, including mentoring junior colleagues and supporting recruitment.
About you
You don't need to have done everything on day one, but you should be comfortable owning procurement in a fast-moving, growing organisation.
Essential:
Solid experience in
procurement / buying / supply chain
, ideally including medicines, medical products or other regulated categories.
Proven track record in
supplier relationship management
, negotiation and contract management.
Strong
demand forecasting and stock management
skills - confident using data to drive decisions.
Comfortable working with
data and spreadsheets
(advanced Excel/Google Sheets; experience with BI tools is a plus).
Ability to
prioritise and stay calm under pressure
, balancing multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
Clear and confident communicator, able to collaborate across clinical, operations, product and finance teams.
Desirable:
Experience in
pharmacy, digital pharmacy, healthcare, or life sciences
environments.
Experience in a
high-growth or tech-enabled
organisation.
Experience helping to
set up or scale
a procurement or buying function.
