An exciting position combining purchasing expertise with engineering knowledge, requiring the individual to effectively manage the procurement of key components associated with the construction of solar and BESS projects and grid connections, with a focus on ensuring that the products meet the necessary engineering specifications and challenging over-specified products. The role will include responsibility for managing key supplier relationships, sourcing high-quality materials, and supporting engineering teams in technical assessments and decisions. This role is hybrid with presence in our Bristol Offices combined with home working for the right candidate.
What will you be doing?
+ Procurement lead for allocated projects, acting as a first point of contact and liaising with other members of the procurement team to organise the procurement of required components
+ Maintain the procurement tracker and associated records for projects you are the procurement lead on
+ Act as point of contact for selected categories of spend, maintaining relationships with suppliers in your category..
+ Development of framework agreements with key suppliers within your categories
+ Issue RfQ's to procure key components according to engineering specifications and project requirements, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery through negotiation with suppliers in line with the requirements of contracts with our clients and within allocated budgets
+ Create and track purchase orders, ensuring that deliveries are made in line with project timelines and quality standards.
+ Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and requirements to ensure alignment with purchase decisions
+ Work closely with project commercial team to ensure material procurement happens in accordance with the programme and information related to claiming milestone payments is provided in a timely manner.
What are we looking for?
Strong understanding of engineering principles, technical drawings, materials science, and manufacturing processes for key components associated with solar and BESS projects.
Knowledge of the supply chain for solar and BESS projects for; Mounting structures, Solar Modules, Inverters and Transformers, Switchgear, HV/MV/LV Cables, SCADA,
Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and vendors, securing competitive pricing and favourable terms.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments (engineering, procurement, and project management).
Experience working for or with ICP's, EPC's, DNO's, IDNO's, or other renewables developers
Have, or working towards MCIPs is preferable but not required
