At Promohire.co.uk, we turn big ideas into unforgettable experiences. Our team works closely with some of the biggest brands and agencies, all to bring their visions to life. We do this by combining promotional vehicle hire, 3D builds, custom branding and campaign support all under one roof.
Working as part of the Raccoon.co.uk team, we build everything from branded displays to full vehicle fit outs complete with lights, props and gaming elements. Finding solutions to complex problems is a big part of what we do, and it's just one reason brands continue to choose us for their most ambitious campaigns.
No two days here are ever the same, and that's exactly how we like it!
Your Role
We're looking for a talented CAD Designer & Build Specialist to join our in-house design and build team. In this role, you'll be responsible for turning creative ideas and client briefs into fully developed 3D models, detailed technical drawings, and final project documentation - seeing each project from concept to delivery.
This position combines 3D CAD design with technical development and hands-on production awareness. You'll work closely with our build manager, workshop and project teams to ensure everything that's drawn can actually be built, with flawless results.
If you love variety, are willing to take on a good challenge, and can refine a sketch so that it works as a physical object, then this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Use CAD software to turn client briefs and visuals into accurate 3D models
Produce build drawings, cutting files and assembly guides for our internal teams and suppliers
Apply graphics and branding to CAD files to help bring concepts to life
Collaborate with internal teams to refine and prepare designs for production
Research materials, components and fixings that suit the creative and structural brief
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, balancing creative intent with practical constraints
Maintain clear documentation for all phases of design and production
Collaborate with project managers, fabricators and clients to solve problems and improve processes
Support with hands-on project delivery as needed - this is not a desk-only role
Key Skills & Experience
Strong CAD experience with proficiency in Rhino 3D (experience with Sketchup, V-Ray and AutoCAD also useful)
Confident producing build-ready CAD drawings and basic 3D visuals for client sign-off
A degree in Product Design, 3D Design or similar
A good understanding of how things are made, especially using wood, metal, plastics and composite materials
Excellent IT and software skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with creative and technical teams
A working knowledge of 3D printing and how it fits into design and production
Desirable Attributes
An enthusiastic self-starter with a passion for design and making things work
Strong interpersonal skills and able to lead others when necessary
A practical interest in 3D printing, set design, model making or similar
Hands-on experience with workshop tools, fabrication and practical installations
A keen eye for detail and works with a high level of precision and care
What We Offer
Competitive salary based on experience
Flexible working options with hybrid potential
A highly collaborative and creative team environment
An opportunity to see your projects come to life, for many big-name brands
