Flare Audio is a fast-paced audio technology company. Our in-house team takes ideas from paper to product working with our Head of Design and CEO.
As a Product Designer, you will be part of a team responsible for the design and development of a wide range of packaging, prototypes and new products.
This role offers a great variety of design activities and will give you the opportunity to develop further skills. You will be exposed to all aspects of the design process including the visualisation of Flare products through to prototyping, 3D printing, manufacturing and graphic design used to promote Flare's products on the website and advertising. You will be working on a wide range of projects in a friendly, team orientated environment.

You will be expected to produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings/models based on ideas, briefs and initial thought concepts, then present those drawings in an industry standard format suitable for prototyping and mass production, both internally and with a supplier. A solid understanding of 3D printing and associated processes is a must. You will need to be easily adaptable, work at a good pace and be able to take ideas on board as well as contribute your own ideas and thoughts in a constructive manner.
Entry requirements
You will need a degree in product design or general industrial design with product design options. It would be an advantage to have already held a Product Design position in a competitive environment.
We are looking for a designer who is proficient in:
Solidworks
Keyshot
3D Printing software such as Formlabs Preform
Skills/Experience required
You will need: -
Creative ideas and a logical approach
Good technical knowledge balanced with creative ability and a hands-on approach
At least 1 year's knowledge of 3D printing, especially SLA printing
Visual and spatial awareness
Commercial awareness
A high level of computer literacy
To possess the knowledge of industrial processes, techniques and standards
The ability to express your ideas through drawings, 3D models and CAD
The ability to plan and organise a project through several stages
The ability to work on your own initiative whilst at the same time work within a team
To understand the value of receiving constructive criticism
Good inter-personal skills to work across a number of teams
It would be an advantage to have knowledge of
An understanding and knowledge of electronics
Adobe suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premier)
Experience with injection moulding processes
Responsibilities and Duties
To work as required on a variety of projects simultaneously
Developing ideas and making initial sketches/designs and outline plans
Deciding on suitable materials and resources
Using computer design software to produce creative assets
Maintaining 3D printers for prototyping and small scale production
Working hours
You will be based at our Lancing site.
Your hours of work are 40 hours per week with core hours between 08:00 - 17:30
