Home Decor is one of Europe's leading suppliers of contemporary bedroom furniture to the DIY, construction and new-build markets.

Proudly manufacturing in Sheffield for nearly 50 years, we are the UK market leader in fitted wardrobes. We design, develop, manufacture and install a wide range of high quality bedroom furniture which is sold throughout the world.

We are looking for a Product Designer to join the existing team based at our Sheffield office in Woodhouse Mill.

Working hours - 37.5 hours per week worked Monday to Thursday, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm and 8.30 am to 2.30 pm on Friday with a 30 minute unpaid mealbreak each day.

Main Purpose of the Role



To be part of the team that designs and develops innovative, quality products for introduction into all markets identified.

With guidance from the Head of Product, lead new product development projects, from design concept through to production via engineering, prototyping and testing, being the lead with all external parties and suppliers.

Working closely with the wider Product Team, help lead the program of product life cycle management, ensuring current ranges are both up-to-date and in line with current market trends both in the UK & International markets.

Design and development of all product ranges in line with wider business strategy, ensuring 'consumer led thinking' resonates throughout all activity.

Work closely with the Procurement Manager, ensure that the current product portfolio is manufactured to the highest quality and at best cost, ensuring any cost savings either in materials or process are identified and realised by the business.

To use the design and development processes ensuring all engineering drawings and project documentation are maintained in line with the demands of the ISO9001 quality system.

With guidance from the Head of Product to work closely with the wider Marketing team to ensure the department has a clear and coherent product development pipeline aligned to business expectations.

Knowledge & Experience



An understanding of consumer needs and expectations, working directly with the wider Marketing team on research / insight projects where required.

Build up knowledge of the latest developments and initiatives within the market, competitors and related industries.

An understanding of the latest developments in material technology and manufacturing processes.

To be part of the team that is reference point for all things design, leading and advising other functions of the business where required.

Key Skills & Qualifications Required



Degree level educated with minimum 3 years design experience ideally gained within the manufacturing sector. Experience of working with both UK & Far Eastern manufacturers would be beneficial.

Good working knowledge of Solidworks & furniture manufacturing CAM software.

An ability to interface and lead projects with colleagues from all departments of the business.

The role requires initiative, the development of product knowledge and analytical skills. A high level of ownership, communication and interpersonal skills is expected.

Pay: 25,000.00-30,000.00 per year
