Merchoid is a global eCommerce retailer specialising in officially licensed merchandise from major entertainment brands including Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, PlayStation, Zelda and DC. We produce and sell premium apparel, accessories, gifts, homeware and collectibles to passionate fans worldwide.
We are growing our in-house product development team to deliver an increasing number of exclusive product ranges. This is a hands-on role working across multiple product categories in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Product Developer to manage the full development process for new products from concept through to final delivery. You will work closely with our Design team and communicate daily with factories and suppliers (primarily in China) to ensure products are delivered on time, on budget and to the correct specification.
This role involves detailed project coordination, supplier management, problem solving and consistent follow-up to maintain progress and timelines. You must enjoy responsibility and managing multiple products at once.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple product development projects at the same time
Maintain production timelines and trackers to ensure deadlines are met
Translate design briefs into clear manufacturing requirements
Communicate daily with suppliers and factories in China and internationally
Request and negotiate product cost quotations
Review samples and provide corrective feedback to factories
Ensure products meet quality, safety and brand standards
Prepare licensor approval submissions and manage feedback
Coordinate product testing and compliance documentation when required
Arrange pre-shipment inspections and quality checks
Organise logistics and shipping for air and sea freight
Keep product development records and sample documentation up to date
Maintain the product sample library
Attend trade fairs and supplier meetings when required
Willing to travel internationally, particularly to China
Skills and Experience Required
Minimum 2 years experience in product development, sourcing or merchandising
Experience working with Far East manufacturing
Fluency in English and Mandarin or Cantonese (spoken and written)
Excellent organisation and project management skills
Strong communication and negotiation ability
Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Desirable
Experience working with licensed or branded products
Knowledge of manufacturing processes for textiles, accessories, gifting or homeware
Basic experience using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop
Understanding of quality control or compliance processes
