About the Role
We are seeking a skilled
SolidWorks CAD Technician
to join our growing team of 6 people. This role focuses on the design and development of oil control, fuel delivery, vehicle specific HVAC kits, Honda K20 swap components and more. We offer a wide variety of niche products within our market, please view our website to get a proper understanding of the products we offer. This job would be perfect for somebody who has good mechanical knowledge, a high aptitude for detail and is enthusiastic about vehicles & motorsport.
Key Responsibilities
Design and model parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
Digitising physical components using our Creaform Handyscan Elite laser scanner and data extraction software to assist with Product Development.
Produce accurate 3D models and fully detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
Apply GD&T and industry standards to ensure consistent fitment and quality.
Consider real-world automotive constraints including vibration, load, heat, and tolerance stack-up.
Support prototype development and revise designs based on testing and installation feedback.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, and welding.
Maintain CAD files, revisions, and documentation.
Produce internal product assembly instructions and customer release installation documents.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong proficiency in
SolidWorks
(parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations).
Experience within the automotive sector, or a similar mechanical design field.
Good understanding of
manufacturing processes
(CNC, sheet metal, fabrication).
Knowledge of
GD&T
and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
Ability to work with limited information and develop practical design solutions.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
Hands on experience with vehicles, reverse engineering, or scanning data.
Familiarity with motorsport or performance automotive applications.
Basic FEA or simulation experience.
Understanding of BOMs and product lifecycle management.
