We are seeking a hands-on Product Engineer to support and improve the design and manufacture of our high voltage diamond coils and bars. The role focuses on translating customer requirements into manufacturing processes, producing clear manufacturing instructions, supporting day-to-day production troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
This is a practical, shop-floor-connected role suited to someone who enjoys solving real manufacturing problems and collaborating closely with design, quality, supply chain, and production teams.
Duties
Process & Manufacturing Engineering
Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes for existing and new products.
Prepare and update manufacturing instructions, SOPs, routings, and work aids in accordance with QMS requirements.
Design and modify tooling, fixtures, gauges, and production methods as required.
Support NPI activities, including process validation, pilot builds, and release to production.
CAD & Technical Documentation
Produce and update CAD models, drawings, and layouts relating to tooling and production requirements.
Review and interpret engineering drawings and ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
Maintain controlled documentation, adhering to change management procedures.
Production Support
Provide daily technical support to production teams to resolve build, process, or quality issues.
Conduct structured root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Support the resolution of non-conformances in collaboration with the Quality function.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement improvements to reduce scrap, rework, variation, and cycle times.
Support Lean and CI activities, including development of standard work and error-proofing solutions.
Monitor process performance and report against relevant KPIs such as yield, downtime, and first-time pass rate.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability considerations are addressed.
Work with suppliers regarding technical queries, manufacturability, and tooling requirements.
Provide training to operators on new or revised processes, tooling, and documentation
Qualifications
Degree, HND, or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
Equivalent industry experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of insulation systems for rotating electrical machines.
Familiarity with electrical testing processes such as insulation resistance, hipot/withstand, surge, and partial discharge.
Experience in coil, motor, generator, transformer, or similar electrical manufacturing environments.
Lean/CI training (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) with evidence of application.
