PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Technology team at Comic Relief plays a central role in delivering the Red Nose Day campaign, ensuring platforms, systems, and processes are in place to engage supporters and maximise income, helping us tackle poverty in the UK and around the world.
The Product Executive will support the Product Manager in delivering digital fundraising products and services, including the prize platform, text-to-donate systems, and the broadcast partnership with the BBC. The role will help coordinate specific workstreams, manage partner relationships, and ensure a secure, compliant, and seamless supporter experience.
This is a junior-level, fixed-term opportunity ideal for someone interested in digital products, campaign delivery, or partnership coordination. It offers hands-on experience in project management, platform support, and cross-functional collaboration with both internal teams and external partners like Fonix and the BBC. While the role involves ownership of defined areas of work, support and sign-off will be provided by the Product Manager.
This is a hybrid position, with a requirement to work from Comic Relief's London office at least two days per week. The role is based on a 35-hour working week; however, flexibility is essential, particularly in the lead-up to Red Nose Day. Working hours will need to flex to accommodate key meetings, events, and deadlines in the weeks prior to the campaign. This may include occasional early starts or later finishes. The successful candidate must also be available on the evening of Red Nose Day to support the live broadcast (approximately 7:00pm-10:30pm).
Key responsibilities:
The core areas of focus for this role are supporting partnership coordination with key external partners such as BBC and Fonix, and working with internal stakeholders, particularly Fundraising, to ensure the effective delivery of fundraising platforms and products for Red Nose Day.
Partnership & Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the day-to-day Technology team contact for external partners, managing communications, actions, and updates.
Coordinate internal and external activity related to BBC compliance, including completing Information Security documentation and supporting creative sign-off.
Manage the technical relationship with Fonix, ensuring text-to-donate services are set-up correctly, thoroughly tested and all processes comply with Ofcom and internal standards.
Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, including colleagues in the Technology team and those in Fundraising and Communications, to ensure timelines and deliverables are clearly understood and met.
Keep stakeholders informed on progress, risks, and decisions within assigned workstreams.
Campaign and Product Support
Support the delivery of digital fundraising tools, including online donation platforms, SMS (text-to-donate), and prize draws.
Work closely with third-party suppliers and internal teams to deliver and test digital products, ensuring technical accuracy and accessibility.
Provide system and platform checks (online and SMS) multiple times per day -- including during evenings and outside core working hours (evenings and weekends) as required during campaign periods.
Coordinate the set-up of text donation codes, ensuring all technical and regulatory requirements (e.g. Ofcom registration) are met.
Support review of content and assets for live campaign broadcasts, ensuring technical details are correct and aligned with partner requirements.
Respond to queries and support non-technical colleagues in understanding systems and processes.
Project Management and Operational Support
Work with Product Manager in managing tasks, timelines, and partner deliverables related to Red Nose Day campaign activity.
Create and maintain clear, high-quality documentation on system setup, related processes, and status updates to support transparency across projects.
Assist in reviewing technical aspects of visual assets created for TV broadcast or digital use.
Live Event and Office Presence
Work from the Comic Relief office at least two days per week, with a requirement to be present during the Red Nose Day broadcast (7pm-10:30pm).
Support in-office activity on Red Nose Day including co-ordination with partners and internal teams.
