Key Responsibilities of the Role

As a Product Manager, you play an important role in the design and development of our modern public cloud offerings. You will bring your past experience to a talented group to further evolve the technical capabilities of our organization, drive improvements across our SDLC and unlock new capabilities for our clients.

We look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering. You will apply your Product expertise to all aspects of Product Management, from customer and stakeholder engagement, to prioritization of the Engineering team\'s backlog, with collaboration across other Database and infrastructure teams. You will own your Product\'s budgeting and financial forecasting. You will lead and help inspire engineers to work toward a common goal, with our customers at the heart of strategic decisions. The role will require proficiency in Product portfolio management, role-specific responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and elaborating stakeholder requirements. Working with customers to own and shape the product direction, balancing what\'s technically feasible and what is desired by the end user
  • Collaborating with teams across the firm to further the Global Technology strategy of providing first class services for our customers
  • Maintaining the highest standard of Risk, Controls and Audit requirements
  • Working with individual product engineering teams to implement solutions with an equal focus on both functional and non-functional requirements
  • Driving consistency and engagement of central initiatives across a number of teans in a matrixed organisation
  • Strong influence and communication skills, both written and verbal. World-class listener.
  • Conduct and lead regular service reviews across all AWS DB products. Track and deliver actions and improvements across products from these meetings.
  • Contribute to regular updates of database strategy
  • Act as \'voice of customer\' back into AWS DB team as a result of regular close engagement with technology leaders in lines of business.
  • Own the style, accuracy, completeness of our customer-facing documentation on go/engineers.
Desired Competencies

The ideal candidate will have experience with:
  • A technical discipline (such as Software or Infrastructure Engineering)
  • Defining and prioritizing engineering requirements with Acceptance Criteria, preferably in Jira
  • Wworking with large scale, cloud infrastructure systems
  • Leveraging APIs, and security, authentication and data structures
  • Agile practices to facilitate rapid delivery with short feedback loop
  • Implementing software engineering best practices; automated testing, CI/CD, TDD, etc.
  • Relational Databases (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, etc.)
  • Using customer engagement tools such as Journey Mapping and Personas
  • Public cloud (AWS, Google or Azure)
  • Application and system configuration management of a large fleet (1000\'s of nodes under management), is advantageous.
  • Technical writing including user-facing documentation
  • Successful delivery of large, complex multi-team programs of work over multiple quarters / years
