Janssen UK is currently recruiting for a Product & Therapy Area Communications Manager, with a strong digital skillset to also lead the Therapy Area social media and digital communications.

In this role, you will grow the reputation of Janssen and J&J in the UK through the implementation of the Communication & Public Affairs team\'s external and internal communication strategies.

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

  • Creating and implementing communication activities for designated therapy areas and brands, including the launch of new products, line extensions, new indications, and franchise communications, whilst maintaining transparency for existing brands by:
  • Leading on social media and digital communications for Janssen UK; creating and approving social media and website content, maintaining a schedule of external content that supports the business strategy, tracking metrics to improve engagement, updating specified elements of janssen.co.uk.
  • Development and review of communications materials e.g., media materials, internal messaging and briefing documents, drafting correspondence to external stakeholders.
  • Attending ad hoc external meetings and congresses to develop your capabilities and provide feedback on insights to the broader communications team.
  • Become an active and respected cross-functional business partner of the brand Country Value Team (CVT) for designated products by:
  • Advising the CVT on communication strategies and managing external/internal messages; where appropriate aligning with the broader EMEA/Global business strategies.
  • Develop an understanding of product, therapeutic area and market knowledge, to become a strong strategic partner who can adapt easily to swift external developments and find opportunities for the business.
  • Understand the external environment we operate in and how the Janssen UK team interacts with patients, patient advocacy groups, Whitehall and Westminster, the media and the National Health Service (NHS) on behalf of the brand teams, contributing ideas, insights, and challenges.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of new ways of communication, including development and management of social media channels, digital landscape analysis and strategic social media engagement.
  • Promptly highlight developments of interest in the external environment to the Communication & Public Affairs team and key business partners.
  • Act as first point of contact for enquiries (internal and external), response development and where appropriate, triage to the wider communication team (EMEA/Global).
  • Work closely with the Patient Engagement team to support external communications with associated patients and patient advocacy groups by developing patient materials and using relevant communication channels.
  • Manage any appointed PR agencies, including driving project implementation, timelines & financial management.
  • Work with Corporate Communications and Internal Communications to ensure that appropriate and compliant therapy area communication activities are published through digital, social media and internal channels.
  • Liaise with Global and EMEA teams to update them on UK developments, to promote UK specific initiatives and to seek information relevant to the UK business.
  • Benchmark measurable activities with appropriate metrics, evaluating success on a quarterly basis or as appropriate (quantitative and qualitative evaluation).
  • Maintain full compliance with ABPI guidelines and Janssen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on all associated communications and activities undertaken for allocated brand responsibilities.
  • Report any Adverse Events in a timely way to Drug Safety according to current Adverse Event Reporting guidelines/SOP and to maintain Regulatory compliance.
  • Act in accordance with ABPI Code of Practice, J&J HCC requirements and Janssen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all associated communications and activities undertaken for allocated brand responsibilities. We\'d love to hear from YOU, if you have:
Required:
  • Experience at 6 up to 8 years in pharmaceutical brand, product, and therapy area communications, either in-house or within an agency/consultancy.
  • Proven digital and social media skills, with in depth working knowledge of Twitter and LinkedIn functionalities and capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate complex scientific data into compelling communications materials .
  • Strong UK media and public affairs knowledge, ideally with existing medical and trade media journalist contacts.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital and social media communications, with a genuine interest in continual development, keeping up to date with external digital media trends.
  • High level of understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice, and its practical implementation in communications activities and materials.
  • Experience in benchmarking results and setting appropriate evaluation metrics.
  • Experience working collaboratively across different teams with competing priorities.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Proactive with a proven record in delivering results in a high pressure and fast-paced environment.
