Role Overview



We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Product Designer to join our design team in the decorative lighting industry. This is an exciting opportunity to work onsite in Blackpool to create elegant, functional, and innovative lighting products for a range of Hospitality and Marine projects around the world. The role is primarily focused on CAD modelling and product development, using SolidWorks and Product Data Management (PDM) systems and KeyShot. There will be an element of support required in the broader team to assist with fast presentable hand Sketching (digital/tablet based) and also Graphics work such as image manipulation, presentations and digital asset creation using Adobe and Microsoft software.

You'll be part of a collaborative team, both internal and external sales, project management, procurement and technically responsible for transforming design concepts into manufacturable products, within budget and timescales ensuring both aesthetic integrity and engineering feasibility.

Key Responsibilities



Create accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks.

Manage and maintain design files using PDM systems and windows explorer.

Create product renderings using KeyShot

Independently manage tasks and priorities using a workflow in Microsoft SharePoint.

Support the product development process from initial concept through to production.

Support the Chief Design Officer in creating quick, hand drawn visuals of concepts for clients.

Assist the Marketing team with visual asset creation for use on web and promotional materials.

Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, production, procurement, and marketing.

Modify and update existing product designs based on feedback or cost, performance, or manufacturing improvements.

Qualification and Experience (essential)



A degree or diploma in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Proficiency in SolidWorks (essential), with a solid understanding of part and assembly modelling, surfacing, and drawings.

Experience using SolidWorks PDM or similar systems to manage design data.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, ideally including metal fabrication, glass, and finishes used in decorative lighting.

Good eye for detail, form, and proportion with an appreciation for aesthetics and user experience.

Digital Sketching ability with hand rendering.

Basic Knowledge utilising Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced design team.

Good time management

Basic knowledge of lighting and LEDs

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Desirable



Internship or previous experience in a product design or lighting-related role. However new Graduates will be considered.
