The Production & Supply Chain Planner plays a central role in coordinating the flow of livestock, raw materials, and finished goods through the butchery and production process. This position ensures that the right products are produced at the right time to meet customer demand, while maintaining high standards of efficiency, yield, and quality in line with Pipers Farm's food integrity values.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning
Develop and manage the weekly production schedule in collaboration with the Butchery, Packing, and Small Goods teams.
Translate sales forecasts and stock requirements into actionable production plans.
Balance operational capacity with incoming carcass volumes to optimise throughput and minimise downtime or bottlenecks.
Monitor production progress daily and adjust plans to accommodate changes in demand, yield, or supplier availability.
Supply Chain Coordination
Work closely with Farming Coordinators and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of carcasses, ingredients, and packaging materials.
Liaise with logistics and intake teams to plan inbound and outbound movements efficiently.
Maintain visibility over stock levels and forecast requirements to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Data, Systems & Analysis
Use systems such as
OrderWise
and
Aptean (S)I
to plan, track, and analyse production performance.
Conduct yield analysis to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and reduced waste.
Ensure accurate product data is maintained within systems to support forecasting and traceability.
Produce regular reports on production efficiency, stock levels, and forecast accuracy for management review.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Partner with the Butchery Team to align product planning with available resource and carcass volumes.
Collaborate with the Sales and Product teams to plan for new product launches or seasonal demand peaks.
Communicate clearly with operations teams to ensure daily plans are understood and achievable.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Strong analytical and planning skills with proficiency in
Excel
(formulas, pivot tables, data modelling).
Experience in production or supply chain planning, ideally within food manufacturing or processing.
Excellent communication and coordination skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Desirable
Experience using
OrderWise
or
Aptean SI
(Supply Chain Management Systems).
Understanding of
butchery and carcass breakdown
, and how different primals contribute to product output.
Background in meat, food production, or FMCG environments.
