You will understand the daily Make Ready performance requirements specific to each press to deliver operational expectation in line with the company's business targets, driving to improve overall performance in make ready, material yield, run speed and reduction in lost time by aiding and assisting printers where possible. You will understand where excellent performance "is" and implement the processes to get there, consistently improving team performance
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Whilst performance against Make Ready & Downtime targets are the responsibility of the Print Operators, PMR play a vital support role in achieving these targets. The PMR role will be taken into consideration when targets are achieved or not met
Ensuring all Make Ready and Wash Up responsibilities are actioned in the most efficient way to prioritise the continual running of presses where possible
Ensure Make Ready, Wash Up and general assist performance is as per expectations of Shift Team Leader
Working from electronic production plan at Make Ready station, collect job bag and plates from Specification files located near the PMT station
Collect relevant cylinders and magnetic die - place on trolley (remove old plate tape from cylinders if necessary). Mount plates on cylinders - carefully utilising plate mounting cameras and ensure new sets of plates to be accurately cut prior to mounting
Tool (flexi or solid) located from rack and placed on trolley, and completed trolley made available for printer at press before preceding job is completed
Wash up at end of print job if necessary. Empty good ink back into tubs, clean ink trays and clean anilox. Reassemble on press
Strip used plates from the cylinders and place in the automatic plate cleaner. Once cleaned sign plate back into the specification file and hang on the rack provided
When alerted to requirement for Make Ready assistance by Shift Team Leader or Printer, ensure 'pit-stop' approach is implemented to aid printer in reducing press downtime to an absolute minimum, ensure that all requirements for wash up are actioned and next job inputs are in place to reduce lost time
Answer door and sign for various deliveries when 'Goods In' are not on site
Clean anilox using mechanical cleaner as and when necessary
Use forklift to locate material from racking when required
Empty bins at end of press at end of shift or as needed during shift
Ensure all Print consumables are readily available on press, including, cores, wipes, cleaning fluid etc.
Carry out weekly stock checks of inks & consumables with Goods In operator
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience of working in a high volume, low unit cost manufacturing environment
FLT license would be beneficial but not essential as training is provided
Ability to work with others
Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with other production colleagues, and to site management
Ability and willingness to work as an effective part of a team and on own when required and documented procedures
Open to new and improved ways of working
Willing and able to work to and achieve daily targets
