Production Controller

Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Production Controller to join our operations team. This role is pivotal in leading and developing ERP based planning and control activities, ensuring efficient production planning, accurate materials control and continuous improvement of ERP processes. You will work closely with operations, supply chain, sales, and finance teams to drive performance and deliver results.

Key responsibilities



Support the Production Control Lead in day-to-day activities. Use MRP system (123insight) to create and manage production works orders. Check and update BOMs, edit routings, and correct invalid project assignments. Raise rework orders as required. Execute MRP production actions: reschedule, cancel, and place works orders. Run auto-assign and production control loading in priority order. Close and complete works orders accurately. Issue shortages to production and resolve transaction discrepancies. Attend daily production meetings in the absence of the Production Control Lead and action agreed outcomes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within production control processes.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience



Level 3 qualification (A-Level, BTEC, NVQ) or equivalent in a relevant technical or business discipline. Proven experience in production control, planning, or scheduling within a manufacturing or engineering environment (marine or similar high-integrity sector preferred). Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., 123insight, SAP, Oracle). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials control, and shop floor operations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for reporting and analysis. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration. Commitment to continuous improvement and process efficiency. Knowledge of MRP actions such as works order creation, rescheduling, and resource loading. Understanding of BOM structures, routings, and costed works orders.
