Prepare cost analyses and justifications for new products and product improvements to support project evaluation and decision-making. Develop manufacturing support documentation (e.g. process sheets, work instructions, control plans) to reduce defects and boost productivity. Collaborate closely with the Design team to support new product development, product changes, and process improvements, while also assisting other departments where required. Research, justify, and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BoMs), manufacturing routes, and standard operating procedures. Honours Degree (minimum 2:2) in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, or at least 5 years' relevant experience. HND/HNC (minimum Merit) in Mechanical or General Engineering with 10 years' experience also considered. Time-served apprenticeship is advantageous. Proven experience in production engineering within both high-volume and bespoke low-volume manufacturing environments. Strong practical engineering background with hands-on experience. Knowledge of aluminium extrusion, injection moulding, pressings, castings, and joining techniques (welding, riveting, etc.) is desirable. Familiarity with process line manufacture and fabrication machinery is beneficial. CAD skills, particularly in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, are advantageous. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team. Strong organisational and project management skills to drive projects through to completion. Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage across internal teams and with external suppliers. Self-motivated, with a proactive approach, strong work ethic, and willingness to embrace new opportunities.
If you are looking for a role where you can make a real impact on processes, productivity, and product development, we would love to hear from you.
