Job Summary



Reporting to the Operations Director, the job holder's role will involve developing and implementing production and quality control processes, troubleshooting production and quality issues across the 3 manufacturing sites within Dorset and Hampshire. The job holder will also work with managers and supervisors to analyse production and 8D quality data to identify areas for improvement. The Production Engineer will play a critical role in enhancing the company's production efficiency, quality, safety, cost and delivery by driving through the required improvements.

Main Responsibilities



Provide technical expertise and support to resolve manufacturing process issues and implement corrective actions across all 3 manufacturing sites.

Working with department managers and leads by using the 8D process to reduce quality concerns and trends.

Provide manufacturing and quality control support to New Product Development Projects utilizing the stage and gate process.

Lead process and quality improvement activities including root cause analysis, 5 why's and other relevant improvement techniques.

Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations and all other Company policies and procedures. Ensuring all activities are undertaken in a safe manner and including risk assessments and SSoW.

Analyse existing production processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce wastes. Collect and analyse production data to identify trends, performance, quality issues and opportunities for improvement. Lead and participate in projects aimed at process optimization, equipment upgrades, and new product introductions, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Integrating new technologies and automation to improve manufacturing efficiency. Work closely with other departments including, Design, Manufacturing, Purchasing Sales, etc, to ensure alignment of production requirements. Assist in training production staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices to promote a culture of continuous improvement. Developing and implementing quality control systems and standards. Monitoring and analysing quality performance. Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.

Qualifications and Experience



Relevant graduate level engineering qualification.

Experience working within at least one of the following manufacturing areas is essential, GRP composites, metal fabrication processes (including Mig and Tig welding), and rubber hose manufacturing.

Ability to utilize quality control systems including 6 Sigma and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

Proficiency in MS Office.
Experience of Lean, continuous improvement, problem solving and error proofing techniques.

Knowledge of automation and robotics in manufacturing processes, ideally Mig welding would be advantageous.
Experienced with leading 8D problems solving teams and reducing quality concerns.

Working Hours

- 38. Monday - Friday 7.30am - 4.00pm Monday - Thursday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and 7.30am - 1.30pm Friday.
