We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Production & Engineering Manager to join our team.
In this role, you will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations and engineering activities to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and continuous improvement. This position combines technical expertise with strong leadership skills to manage production schedules, optimize processes, and drive engineering initiatives that support our business objectives.
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the workshop, including planning, coordinating, and executing all technical work orders. Key responsibilities include supervising workshop staff, ensuring equipment and machinery are properly maintained, and delivering high-quality service in line with company standards and customer expectations.
Additional duties include managing inventory, workflow, technical diagnostics, and supporting continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Workshop Operations Management
Oversee daily production activities, ensuring output meets quality and delivery standards.
Monitor progress of repair, fabrication, and maintenance work to ensure timely delivery.
Implement and enforce standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
Ensure tools, machinery, and workshop facilities are properly maintained and calibrated.
2. Leadership
Lead and mentor production engineers and supervisors.
Review complex production/technical problems and provide diagnostic and troubleshooting assistance.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, technical drawings, and specifications.
3. Staff Supervision & Development
Lead, coach, and train workshop staff, including technicians and apprentices.
Conduct performance reviews and recommend development plans or training.
Ensure staffing levels meet operational demands and manage leave or overtime as necessary.
4. Quality Control & Safety
Monitor and maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
Conduct inspections and tests to validate completed work meets required standards.
Promote a strong health & safety culture and ensure adherence to HSE regulations.
5. Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., engineering, procurement, sales, logistics) and manage priorities.
Work closely with software developers to monitor and resolve bug-related issues.
Conduct systematic testing to ensure alignment with company objectives and compliance standards.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for each project.
Assist in cost estimation and project planning for workshop-based tasks.
6. Inventory & Asset Management
Manage stock levels of tools, parts, and consumables.
Authorize and track equipment usage and requisitions.
Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials.
7. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Prepare regular reports on workshop productivity, downtime, and efficiency.
Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
Contribute to technical reviews, audits, and investigations when required.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Degree/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or strong engineering background (degree-qualified in mechanical, industrial, or production engineering).
Several years in production or engineering management roles. experience in a technical workshop environment, with at least 2 years in a management role.
Strong technical knowledge of equipment, tools, and repair methods.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficient in using workshop management systems (Sage) and Microsoft Office tools.
Health & Safety certification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH) is an advantage.
Track record of delivering process improvements and cost savings.

Pay: 45,000.00-55,000.00 per year
