Loading Bay Lifts Limited is a small but expanding business, specialising in the manufacture of bespoke industrial scissor lifts, primarily in the loading bay retail and distribution sectors.
We are seeking a Production Manager to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of our engineering workshop. Supported by the management team, the role involves managing people, processes, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget.
This is a varied and active role and requires a candidate who is willing to be hands-on, in both the office and workshop on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and Organise
Schedule and manage production activities to meet customer deadlines.
Allocate work to staff and monitor progress.
Ensure equipment and resources are used effectively.
Material Purchasing and Stock Control
Manage purchasing of raw materials, components, and consumables.
Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure materials are available when needed.
Control costs by reducing waste and avoiding shortages.
Quality
Ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
Implement checks throughout the production process.
Work with staff to resolve issues quickly.
Health and Safety
Work with the company H&S advisor to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
Ensure staff follow company health and safety procedures.
Identify risks and take preventative action.
Collaboration with Sales and Design Teams
Work with the sales team to understand customer requirements.
Work with the design team to ensure smooth handover from design to production.
Provide feedback to improve designs and manufacturability.
Skills & Experience
Experience in production or workshop management for a small/medium business in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of fabrication/welding, hydraulic and electrical systems is desirable.
Experience in purchasing materials/components/consumables and dealing with suppliers
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a small team.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of health and safety requirements in an engineering environment.

Pay: 45,000.00-55,000.00 per year
